A research from CCS Insight shows that 123 million wearable devices are expected to be purchased by the end of 2016, with sales reaching a value of $14 billion. If you think that’s a lot, you should know that this category of devices is expected to keep on growing in the upcoming years. According to the same forecast on wearables released this year, it is estimated that 411 million such items worth $34 billion will be sold in 2020. Of this total, eyewear devices alone will reach sales of 97 million items.
We are definitely happy to have already jumped at the opportunity of researching and developing valuable software for connected objects. Working on the Populate project, the consortium is confident that the game prototype has a high potential to engage many of these users of wearable technology.
The Populate game prototype offers high quality entertainment content for smartglasses. This type of device plays two major roles in the game: one is to control the camera and the mechanics of performing actions and the other one is to display vital information such as life bar, abilities descriptions and game map. As such, Populate makes great use of all the device’s capabilities. So we can’t wait to make this type of content available to users and help drive the wearables market forward.
